I don’t want to say a bunch about this, you know I could blab forever, but this is about beautiful words that a brilliant artist… converted into an amazing visual piece. So you get two for the price of one today and anything I say can only cheapen it. But I’ll quickly mention that I was really excited to come across this animation, as a lifelong fan of Bukowski’s work I love being given the opportunity to view his work through the eyes of another, we’re really lucky to live in a world with so many talented people that take
Sorry y’all but here we go. Someone’s gotta quit tiptoeing around the edges during this showdown at the Old Corral and take a shot at the bad guy. That’s me. The bad guy that is. But I’m the one taking the first shot because I’m only the bad guy in your minds – religious people. Beautiful, caring, loving, charitable religious people. I’m tired of getting sucked into the debate about gay marriage. You won’t budge, you won’t listen to reason, you are brainwashed into believing that black is white on this subject and there’s just no point discussing it. But…
Jackson dresses himself for the most part. And actually does a great job for a little tyke. Sometimes we’ll get some funky choices – head-to-toe in pull-ups or his hair covered in bamb-aids. But whatever we just roll with it, mostly he’s styling.
Today we go to leave the house so I can drive him to daycare, like I do every morning, and there he stands in mismatched shoes…. It’s not even peculiar to him, he’s always up to mischief but this wasn’t like that, he just looked at his shoes that morning and decided today it would be
So it’s really come to this? It’s 1:30am on a Sunday night and I should be in bed asleep so I can start the week fresh, or be ready to get up should the kid have a midnight freakout. But I’m not, I’m here at my my desk staring at my laptop for the past hour, wondering what the fuck I can write about? How the fuck I can get back on the blogging train? It’s been six months and I haven’t posted shit. I like blogging. It’s soothing. It’s therapeutic. It’s a creative outlet that frankly at this point…
Midway Still are an obscure English indie band who put out an album called Dial Square in the early nineties then seemingly vanished. It’s an amazing album that really captures the essence of the whole music scene that was going on at that time. I still listen to it a lot and it’s definitely on my list of all time favorite albums.
Leatherface are a slightly better known English punk band that released their third album Mush at around the same time. It is considered to be one of the all time great punk albums and the definitive album of…
How weird is this? I’m chillaxing in my bed late, it’s storming outside and I’m not able to get my mind to quit racing with the latest idea I’m dreaming up. My brains annoying like that sometimes. So I’m flipping through my itunes randomly picking tracks and as I go to listen to Ice Cube’s amazing “It Was a Good Day” I notice that it is exactly 4:20 in length. I’m pretty sure I never noticed before, which makes sense because when I used to listen to that song a lot was way back before I made my way over…
This is from an email that went around a few years back. It’s mildly amusing in its efforts to stereotype the Detroit neighborhoods and suburbs. Most people from around these parts have already seen it I’m sure, so this one’s for my boys back home, so you can get a taste of the kind of thing I gotta deal with!
That’s what Justin Timberlake said at the Oscars. I was quite surprised at the time, remembering years ago when the name ‘Banksy’ was just a whisper heard on the streets of London, and now he was being referenced in a joke on one of the biggest international stages the world has to offer. I was pretty much clueless as to the events that have transpired between those two states of his notoriety – from unknown to infamous, all the while remaining a ghost. Then I saw Exit Through the Gift Shop… and all that changed.
It’s documented history so there
In 1991 for about 2 months 27 days 9 hours and 11 minutes Ned’s Atomic Dustbin were the biggest band in my world. I just loved the sound of how their dual basses played off each other and they had the whole moshing and crowd surfing scene nailed which was exactly what I was looking for.
But that’s not what this post is really about.
I sometimes listen to their albums to reminisce, mostly it’s not that good, I mean it was great for a 13 year old pop kid, but these days I mainly skip through to their anthems…
