Hi Andrew, of course I don't know exactly what you are doing, but it sounds like you might not even need to set the wmode at all, if the flash sits on top of everything it could be the case, wmode if for when you want to put other elements over the flash. And flash will be able to call a javascript function to close the div layer without wmode enabled, in fact I usually have the close button outside of the flash as an html element (in case the user doesn't have flash for example). If the flash sits on top of everything and you don't need it to go behind any element on the page then you should be good to not enable wmode and use the css properly display set to none to hide it when closed.

Thank you for this information!
So, I have a DIV set up on a web site with absolute positioning and a high z-index so
that it appears above everything. In my DIV, I have a flash object. I'm using this
WMODE set to transparent so that users have the ability to close the flash object (via
a "close" button) and continue on their merry way. In FireFox, if the WMODE is set to
either opaque or transparent, my flash close button is read-only/deactivated. Another
strange thing is if you right-click the SWF and select the flash plug-in settings, all
the buttons in that settings menu are deactivated as well! Craziness...is there a fix?
Thanks!
