It’s too orangey for crows

This is a nutty one. When I was a kid there was a TV commercial for Kia-Ora fruit drink. The deal is this kid’s walking along drinking his juice and a crow (in a zoot suit) happens by and wants some, to which the kid responds “It’s too orangey for crows, it’s just for me and my dog”. But the crow wants some so bad he makes like a dog and starts barking. And I don’t wanna even attempt to get into what happens next, just watch it.

I wanna not be the guy that throws out blanket statements like ‘poetry sucks’. Fact is I think it mostly does. But that’s a personal opinion, it does suck, but only to me. It’s kind of a dirty little secret that I’ve been keeping to myself for the best part of the last 20 years. It’s one of those things that you can’t think sucks, poetry’s so deep and meaningful and if you think it sucks then you’re basically saying you’re shallow and superficial. Fuck that.

Today we celebrate the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. The guy was a stud. A legend. A powerful figure in our recent history that truly represents freedom and change. Whether you’re black or white or yellow or brown, or anything in between, or maybe even you’re a “grey” visiting us from another galaxy. Whoever the fuck you are, if you learn about that man and what he did for us you’ll know that no matter how bleak today is there is always hope for a brighter tomorrow….

Balloon Death

Jackson’s turning two next month. He loves balloons. We get him a balloon every now and again and he goes nuts for it. The balloon even hangs around for days after its lost most of its helium and is just a wrinkled up pathetic version of its former self. I love music and it definitely inspires me in big ways. Johnny Cash is a legend and Folsom Prison Blues is legendary. I’ve probably heard the song a thousand times but for some reason when I was driving home the other day I really connected with a particular verse. Facebook in Japan

So I was reading this article on Yahoo finance Facebook Wins Relatively Few Friends in Japan. Wasn’t expecting much but turns out I was wrong. In the end it wasn’t really about Facebook, but instead it’s about Japanese culture, and how it differs from our own. This was the line that made me realize how important this article is:

Safari Popup Blocker And Flash AS3

On a recent project we came across an issue where user initiated popups get blocked in Safari when being called by an AS3 Flash app. The issue doesn’t happen in AS2 and I’d not come across it before, but when I did and I researched it I found it was a well documented issue with no solution. Embedding Facebook Share Into Your Site

We’ve got this project going on where users can create their own artwork which is saved to the server as an image, and we want them to be able to post it into Facebook.  At first I thought it was going to take some effort and have to use the Facebook Connect API.  But I was hoping for something easier, kind of how easy it is on Twitter to just tag a status GET string onto the URL.  Then I remembered Facebook recently released… something that does exactly this.  It’s all very simple and pretty cool really, check it out
